The Story
A struggling writer. A crumbling world. One final draft.
As the world around us begins to fall apart, Desiree, a Black millenial and struggling actor/writer, tries to write her suicide note but keeps getting interrupted by the life she is trying to leave behind.
Through spoken word and digital satire, The End of the World explores burnout, depression, loneliness in the digital age, and what happens when you're forced to ask: Who are you when it all boils down to it? And...does any of this even matter?

Why I'm Making This Show
I wrote this show during what I can only describe as my own personal apocalypse. As the world I thought I understood began to fracture and what I was building for myself seemed to disintegrate in my hands, I began to question everything: my career, my purpose, God, and whether any of this actually matters.
I was struggling through a 2-year burn-out where even taking a walk became too hard. I was scrolling through social media at 3 AM, watching the world argue about everything and getting mad about nothing. I couldn't stop thinking about my own step-dad's suicide attempt, recalling that being the moment my world ended. And I was feeling simultaneously connected to millions and utterly alone.
But somewhere in that darkness, I was able to find meaning in the chaos. I was able to see the God in those around me. And I found a renewed sense of authority to write my own pathway forward. Healing is possible. Light again is possible.
This show isn’t about giving answers. It’s about asking the questions many of us think but are afraid to say out loud. It’s about finding humor in hopelessness. It’s about sharing communion in the absurdity of this beautiful and horrendous life. It’s about the radical act of creating something when everything tells you there’s no point. And it’s about seeing yourself through it all.
Because maybe that's all we can do at the end of the world: tell our stories, and hope they bring us back to each other.
